The story behind the song.
This song, like many I’ve written, is deeply personal. It was inspired by a recurring dream I had throughout my life: I’d be sitting by a quiet lake when a woman in white would appear and walk toward me. I never saw her face—each time I tried, she vanished—but I always felt I’d known her forever. As a teenager, the dream became more frequent, and I became obsessed with finding her in real life, searching every face for some sign. Over time, I gave up, unsure if she was real or just a creation of my mind. Years ago, I wrote I Loved You Before I Met You as a tribute to her—a symbol of a timeless connection that always felt just beyond reach.
